Meg's the one who keeps Roop & Wix in line.. most of the time...

Meet Meg Whitton!  Mornings from 5:30am to Noon

What`s your favourite kind of cheese?  melted.
You favourite rock tune ?? Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar On Me, Queen Fat Bottom Girls, Van Morrison Gloria, Bob Seger Old Time Rock and Roll, The Hip Three Pistols.
First song you remember dancing to.. like.. during a high school dance, not
alone in your room or something...  Will you judge me if I say Milli Vanilli?  I have a distinct memory of singing Blame It On The Rain all day long in grade six after my first dance.  I thought it was the best. song. ever.  It was not.
First album you ever bought ?? I'm not telling.  It was a tape by a horribly embarrassing band that doesn't exist anymore.  I have matured.
Relationship status... Married to my bed.
Facebook or myspace ?? Facebook.  I was not smart enough to figure out myspace.  I blame facebook for my internet addiction, and the fact that I can't seem to wait longer than 14 secs for anything anymore.
Favourite drink.. -- coffee, beer, wine....in chronological order.
Fave tv show.?? Dexter
What are you doing at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon??
Is it sunny?  hopefully eating breakfast on a patio, sitting on someone's boat, biking, running
Fave cartoon character? Salad Fingers.  I don't want to talk about it.
Betty or veronica...??  I'm more of a Betty....without the blond....hmm...doesn't leave a lot does it?
Where were you born or where did you grow up??
I am from the thriving metropolis of Georgetown, Ontario, with various stints in Guelph (it brought out my secret hippie side), Waterton, AB (like Jasper, but more secret - Go there!) and Lloydminster, AB/SK.  Trivia: Lloydminster is Canada's only border town.  Half the town is in AB...half in Sk.  Think about the logistics of this....those provinces have two different drinking ages....so all the bars are on the AB side.....and also two different time zones....Super fun for a radio announcer!  This is also where I was forced to learn about the CFL.  Go Riders!
What song makes you want to play an air instrument...
I feel the air piano doesn't get the respect it deserves.  The best way to test this theory is to take a drive listening to Queen "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" and test out your dashboard.
Did you win anything yet on ``roll up the rim”??
Don't you feel that someone who just relocated to Midland would be a great person to win a boat?  Apparently Tim Horton's does not feel the same way....
Strangest gift you`ve ever received?
I was sent a bottle of fruit spray in the mail for Valentine's Day....in February....to Northern Alberta.....it arrived frozen solid in my mailbox.  And that is the cleanest story I can tell you about gifts in the mail.....
Fave sport?  My goal this summer is to enter a Mountain Bike race at Blue Mountain.  and not die.
Fave piece of clothing...  Do other people's clothes count?  Meredith has a great pair of black and yellow boots I like to borrow....actually I think she's wearing them in her Bio Pic....go look.  Other than that....I have no style.....I love gross, stained, holey hoodies.
Secret guilty pleasure -- Sigh.  I read online columns by the editors of the Late Ann Landers.  I can't help it.  I'm addicted...and very insightful with advice.
Fave band -- Queen
Hey baby.. what`s your sign..?? Sagittarius.....it took my 6 tries before spell check would let that fly.

What was the first concert you went to?  Steve Miller Band at Kingswood Music Theatre before Canada's Wonderland was Paramount.  bah!
Your favourite concert?
Arcade Fire at Hillside Music Festival in Guelph.....they weren't even headlining....side stage by the beer tent.
One little known fact about yourself you'd like to share...I've gone into every store on Queen street looking for Garden gnomes.  No where!

so you love the environment??
written by mike , October 19, 2008

I enjoy listening to you meg. I like the fact that you are environmentally aware and speaking about it on air because it gets people thinking and talking about it. That's the first step. Last week, you spoke about your broken window in your car and how you needed to use pliers to get your window down to use the drive thru!! Imagine my surprise! How can you judge so many for not recycling cups, etc. if you are idling your vehicle to save yourself a few lazy steps. I am aware that tim horton's business is aimed to cater to the drive thru customers first and foremost, but they may only get the hint if we act accordingly. Anti-idling laws are popping up outside of toronto now but rural areas are predominantly drive-thru friendly. Contractors are some of the most environmentally abusive individuals around and coffee is the fuel that gets them through mornings. They idle their trucks as they go from job site to job site so what would have them think that there is anything wrong with sitting in their idling, gas guzzling 1/2 tonne pick up truck for a minute or two to get coffee. It is the scale on which this happens, daily that is so scary. If there were no drive thru, the coffee peddlars would be forced to making their machine run more efficiently inside the restaurant.
Meg, this is my plea: rage against the drive thru in every way possible. If you are not capable of denouncing take out coffee altogether, then at least go inside and say hello to a human face while getting your fix from your morning drug of choice. Coffee is not healthy, at all. If you feel the need to pollute your own body daily, that is your choice. Doing so in an idling car pollutes our planet in a drastic way. IDLING IS IGNORANT!! That could be the slogan. Get on this bandwagon meg. Show me the power of radio and the individual voice. Get behind turning your car off whenever it's not moving, aside from stoplights, of course. Parking your car should always involve turning the engine off, even if your stop will likely be short. Stop idleing and save our planet. Do your part.

School of Rock
written by Meyg , September 17, 2008

Hey Meg!!! I'm in Gr. 12 at Fenelon Falls Secondary School, and every time I get a chance to listen to you on the internet, I connect!! I also think you're awesome because we share a name, and thats really unusual for me. "Meg" doesn't get enough credit, does it?? smilies/smiley.gif If you could read this on the air, tomorrow morning at like 6, my mum would do her happy dance and squeal.

Leaking tire
written by John Bell , August 26, 2008

Meg: We would be more than happy to fix your tire (for free!) instead of you having to get your landlord to air it up. Stop by some time.

Bike racing
written by Greg Knights , June 10, 2008

I noticed you put racing at Blue Mountain on your Bio, well they do not do cross country racing at Blue. If you want to try racing other than Mt View you need to look into the Ontario Cup race series held by "Chico Racing". It's called Try An O-Cup. Go to their web site for all info. Just steal your garden gnomes. I'm pretty sure thats how I ended up with mine. I came home from the bar one night drunk and woke up with a gnome on the floor beside my bed and mudd all over my carpet. Pretty sure I thought it was a good idea at the time.
P.s. Salad Fingers Rocks!

Meg on the radio you sound like a young Demi Moore with that squeeky voice and almost out of breath voice style. But hey this is a GOOD THING. Great AM show the 3 of you.

Now Meg,

I appreciate your love of gross hoodies and gnomes and most especially, and for no particular self serving reason, your mention of Hillside.
