Better Security on Greyhound?

Posted by: Meredith Geddes in Evening Show on Print PDF

It was all over the news today... the trajic story of a random stabbing and decapitation on a Greyhound bus in Manitoba. It's the kind of trajedy that leaves a lump in your throat upon hearing it, and from there on makes you take a second look at the person you sit next to on your next commute.

Almost immediately security on buses vs. airplanes has become a topic of interest. Greyhound defends themselves saying that metal detectors never were and never will be needed to use this form of travel. I'm willing to bet the parents of the victim think differently. Although it does seem like a lot to have to go through security if you're simply catching the greyhound on a Saturday afternoon from Barrie to Toronto.

What do you think? Was this a one time rarity or should we perhaps look into increasing security with buses and model them after our airports?
