Techno Bomb

Through the years there certainly has been some interesting technology to hit the market hasn't there?

Who can forget the baby monitor that would alert you to when an infant was crying and would identify as to one of five reasons why... hungry, potty break, bored, lonely, or tired. Problem was how did it know which one?

Or the Oakley Thump sunglasses that had a built in MP3 player to allow you to listen to your tunes on the go. What if you wanted to listen in doors, where sunglasses were not needed? The convenience turned cumbersome as the sunglasses themselves were heavier and had really uncomfortable earbuds.

Enter DigiScents... a company that truly had only good intentions when they released the iSmell back in 2001. At first glance (above) the average person would probably have no clue what this thing was.

It was designed to emit odours that would reflect a websites content. For instance maybe you screwed things up with your wife or girlfriend... and you went online to buy flowers. This would allow you to smell the sweet fragrances of forgiveness like roses and lilac.

However just as much as it could be beneficial; it could back fire. Perhaps you visited Jenna Jameson's website... (insert joke here). Or maybe you wanted to pull a prank on your buddy and you were looking to buy a fart-bomb. Neither smells are pleasant are they?

As a result investors smelled a failure and the product was yanked.

Some things are just better left un-smelled.
