Hooray! Minimum wage went up today. Now I don't claim to understand economics, I was an English Lit major. Clearly much more practical. Got a question about Margaret Laurence? I'm your girl. Supply and demand? Let's Ask Jeeves. But even I noticed that national corporations are already

Central Ontario took quite a dumping of snow on Tuesday. I was NOT a happy camper about this. I'm all snowed out at this point of the year, but Meg decided it was best to "look at the glass half full" and take advantage of this downfall. After a few convincing words she had me on board -

It being Good Friday and all, I thought to myself that a nice festive blog was in order. Tis the season, right?

I find that Easter, along with many other holidays, has lost its original meaning - selling out to commercialism.

That being said... what does Easter long weekend mean to me? Turkey and

So I am a first timer here at the old blog so if it only lasts 30 seconds, I will get better I promise. It happens to all bloggers. Now,  I'm not exactly sure what a blog is but I do know this. If your looking for an insightful, deep thinking, thought provoking, mind blowing experience, you are

LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY

Posted by: Meg Whitton in Untagged  on

This morning we talked to Dave Robinson, the lead singer for Sidewinder, a local classic rock tribute band.  They're playing at Yorkies's in Penetanguishene on Saturday afternoon to raise money for The Wilson Family.  The local family of five lost everything in a fire earlier this month.

NCAA BRACKETOLOGY

I want this in writing....or at least cyberspace.  NCAA March Madness started today.  I know nothing about basketball...least of all college basketball.  But betting?  Consider me familiar.  Roop, Wix and I filled out our brackets this morning.  I suggested that we make a friendly wager and a

Who is ROOP?

Posted by: Ted Roop in Untagged  on

Hi...This is me...I am Ted Roop, and this is my blog...

I have no idea what I am about to write about, so I will do the same as Mere and tell you about myself...

Over the years I have been called Root, Roof, Rup, Troop and more...It's all good though because for the most part I know who people are talking about...I live in Orillia and have lived there for the last 6 years...I am married, 5 years now, to a wonderful woman by the name of St. Lisa...Well, I call her St. Lisa (and so do others?!?!?!?), but her name is actually just Lisa...We have 2 kids, Gracie who is 3 going on 10 and

Tommy who is a year in a half and just learning that he can actually say 'no' to things...We also have a 10 year old cat named Lloyd and an 8 month old purebred mutt named Harriot, or Harry as we like to call her...I always vowed that I would have 2 pets one day and name them Lloyd and Harry as a tribute to Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn from the movie Dumb and Dumber...

Here are some other things I like...

Activites I Like: Tundy Tours, Hanging out with my family, golfing, fishing, boating, snowmobiling (Tundy Tours), gettin' a weave on at the M.C.C.

Favorite TV Shows: The Hills, Seinfeld, The Sopranos, 20/20, Dateline, Rick Mercer Report, 5th Estate, NASCAR Sundays, Hockey Night In Canada, Dora the Explorer, Pinks, OverHaulin', Mostly anything on TLC or the Discovery network.

Favorite Movies: I have many favourites but Dumb & Dumber (only if I'm with my best friend Judd), Slapshot, The Party, Old School, The Back To The Future Trilogy and Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi.

Favorite Books: I'm pretty wrapped up in the NASCAR 2008 Media Guide and the new Canadian Tire Fall/Winter Catalogue - It's tough, but I find time for both - one in the upstairs bathroom and one in the downstairs bathroom.

Favorite Quotes: "I gotta make some changes...", "What?...", "It's better to be hated for who you are, then to be loved for who you're not...", "The devil dreams on an idol horse...", “Last night was a pessimistic skydive in a foolish narcotic shell…”, "If you have to release bad news to the public, it would help if you're not ugly...", "Try and give a little more, expect a little less and crank the music when it’s good!...", "We ride never worried about the fall, I guess thats just the cowboy in us all...", "...I'm kind of a big deal I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogony...", "...Veronica and I are trying this new fad called uh, jogging. I believe it's jogging or yogging. it might be a soft j. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild..."

Thats it for my first blog...Hope you enjoyed it and hope I didn't scare you off...
