Um.....one of our Sales Reps just brought this in from her garden for me.  What does it look like to you?......

I have designed a Bra.

It offers minimal support and is very pointy.

I am a nerd.  With new nerdy-type obsessions all the time.  The newest is TedTalks.  This has nothing to do with my cohost but is a website where people at the top of their field, comedians, politicians are asked to give the talk of their lives.  In under 18 minutes.

A friend of mine watches them on her lunch hour (1/2 hr) because she doesn't have time to go buy a lunch and eats at her desk.  It's a break from the norm and very mind-opening and inspiring.
My favourite is Steve Jobs' Valedictory Address for Standford University.  You want to talk about life setbacks........How about your adoptive parents changing their mind?  Being fired from the company you created? and getting cancer?

Very inspiring.

Another favourite is Julia Sweeny discussing the birds and the bees with her 8 yr old.  Much shorter

Our WTF this morning was about a cop who was trapped in his car by a swarm of bees!  He tried to dislodge the swarm by driving REALLY FAST.  THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME!!!!
note:  It doesn't really work.  Those bees are pretty fast.

A whole new kind of rejection....

Posted by: Meg Whitton

Tagged in: Untagged

No one likes to be rejected.  And there are so many different ways you can be rejected every day.

                                                              There's the High-Five Rejection.

                                                                                           ouch.

There's the "No one ever calls you" rejection.

                                                                                                     boo.

There's "I check my email twenty times a day....but still no new email" Rejection.

                                                                                     ha ha.

But until I moved into a town with a population of 1300 I was unaware of "Post Office Rejection"

This is where you go to the Post Office and make casual chit chat with the lovely Post Office Lady about the weather, and then you open your PO BOX to reveal that NO ONE has sent you any mail, not even a bill.  You have just proven that you have gone out of your way and made a special stop assuming that someone, somewhere, in some corporation thinks you are important enough to mail you something.  But you are forced to hang your head in shame and turn tail in front of the Canada Post employee as you walk out of the Post Office empty handed.
So sad.

Wireless Internet....is it eating your brain?

Posted by: Meg Whitton

Tagged in: Untagged

Honestly, I don't know.
Barrie, you're famous.  A group of local parents have approached the school board worried that wireless internet may be making their young children sick.  These kids have reported headaches & nausea while at school but not when they're home.  Media across North America are picking up this story.
Are they kids who just don't like to go to school as some listeners thought?  Or is there something that is making them sick?  There have been complaints at 14 different schools, but only a handful of complaints out of tens of thousands.
Thank you to listeners like Randy, who rather than listen to me spchiel uninformed about what I hear in the news, has given me some links to Actual Sources and their research on what is shooting through the air and if it could harm us.

-->>>   "Meg,

This is a real concern for many people.  I am kinda on the fence with it though.

here is a link to what
the world health organization (WHO) has to say
But then there are other organizations, researchers and even countries that feel it may be a growing concern in the future if something isn't done to curb electronics now.
Magda Havas is an internationally respected professor and researcher on the subject.  She is from Trent University in Ontario.
I think you will find her papers interesting and they may raise questions in your mind about the safety of our modern electronic culture.
The problem may not be just the wireless networks but the wiring in the schools, the cell phones, the radio stations and other rf producers around us all the time...  it all ads up to a lot of radio waves bombarding us constantly.  Our nervous systems run our bodies with low levels of electricity, how much rf noise will it take to disrupt them in some way?
Thanks,
Randy"

She pulled a 'Slater' How to quit your job.

Tagged in: Untagged

Thank you Steven Slater for showing the world how to quit your job with a flourish!  He's the flight attendant who got frustrated with an arguing passenger, grabbed two beers from the beverage cart, enabled the inflatable slide, and slid his way to unemployment.
Satirical websites immediately jumped on the bandwagon and began publishing great ways to publicly quit your job.  This has been proven to be a hoax but still funny....
